Great Article! But a couple additions:
don’t forget a sturdy tripod and cable release. The long exposure time combined with small aperture size make hand holding difficult.
Also setting your camera at its lowest ISO speed is also a good practice as you will get the most detail and least noise.
If you are using a point and shoot, and don’t have access to all the settings, use a tripod and the timer to reduce camera shake.
