8. Have Reasons to Give Valid Info

After conversion, don’t just hand the offer to the prospect – email it to them. This is a great trick to ensure that you get a valid email address. Also, be sure to place a link to your privacy statement near to where you ask for their info.

Using a form, you ask the user what want, and then show them only the relevant material. There don’t seem to be any statistics measuring its effectiveness, but might be worth trying.

And if you’d rather not code the javascript yourself, this product will do it for you.

Little White Lies

Have you ever noticed - the little white lies that marketers tell us, have a funny way of backfiring.

When I see this:

Live chat or call center operator

I KNOW that I’m about to talk with a corporate drone reading a script (probably with an Indian accent).

And was anyone really surprised when Andy blew the lid off of the software awards scam?

How many awards does google have on their homepage?

If you’re telling little white lies like these, you may think that you sound important. But in fact, you’re putting up barriers between yourself and your customers.

Instead of trying to impress me, why not talk with me? Instead of trying to act big, why not be comfortable with being small?
